Genitourinary System
Urinary tract infection is common in patients with ESRD and may be related to stasis in the collecting system due to low rates of urine flow. In patients maintained on chronic dialysis for a period of time, there is a significant incidence of cystic degeneration of the kidney. There is also a significant increase in the incidence of carcinoma of the kidney.
